Notes for Current Members Renewing

Current members renewing will be sent a renewal form in early December. Do not use the form available on this site, which is aimed for Temp / New joiners.

All renewals for current members should be received by the Membership Secretary by the 31^st December. A late penalty applies for renewals sent after this due date.

If you have moved then you can inform us of your new address & request a renewal form via this email address : bkamembership@duco-personnel.co.uk quoting your membership number, Date of Birth and your new address.

I want to try Kendo / Iaido / Jodo – which membership is for me?

We would strongly advise you to use Temporary membership. It is very cheap, lasts 3 months and covers you for practice in your local dojo. It does not allow you to participate in seminars, taikai or gradings. Before the 3 months is up you will be sent an upgrade pack, should you wish to continue your practice. It is a very cheap way to try Kendo / Iaido or Jodo.

All our other memberships involve a £10 joining fee; this is waived for temporary members.

Temporary memberships run for 3 months or till 31^st December if they are still active.However, anyone renewing in January with a temporary membership active on 31^st December will be deemed to have paid the £10 joining fee, and so will eligible for the upgrade rate.

There is only one rate for temporary membership £10, regardless of which sword art you study. You can only take out temporary membership once, it is not renewable.

What are the other types of membership available?

1. Full membership. Allows you to attend AGM and take part in any elections.
2. Concessionary memberships are for full time students and OAPs. Similar to Full membership but at a concessionary rate.
   There are no concessions for the unemployed.
3. Junior memberships are for those who are under 18 at the time of application, this membership does not get to attend AGM’s or take part in any elections or other votes.

All of these memberships have a £10 joining fee on top of the membership fee itself, which is waived for those upgrading from temporary membership.

General Notes

These fees are current for 2007.

If you are practicing Kendo and Iaido or Jodo, then the Kendo fee applies. If you practice either Iaido or Jodo (or both), but not Kendo then the Iaido & Jodo rate applies.

Please note that ALL memberships expire 31^st December, except temporary memberships, which expire on their expiry date or 31^st December, whichever is sooner.
