Note of a meeting of the Officers of the BKA held at Cranford on Sun. 14th Jan. 2007.

Present: J. Howell, G. Salmon, D. Spacey, E. Schofield.
In Attendance: P. Budden, S. Gibson.
Apologies: G. Murray-Threipland.

1. Mr. Gibson outlined the changes in the arrangements for the BKA insurance cover. The new brokers are Lucas, Fettes and Partners. The value of the cover, especially for those loosing work as a result of injury is now significantly better. The danger of double cover if separate insurance is taken out, particularly concerning the risk of loosing more than one policy excess, was noted. Members present, who had previously used separate PI insurance, now felt that the BKA deal was much better. Mr. Gibson was thanked for his work on behalf of the association, and left the meeting. He is to be asked to write a resume for members to appear in the newsletter.

2. It was agreed that Nenriki dojo should be given the opportunity of organising the Lidstone Taikai either in their gymnasium or at a nearby sports centre. The continuation of its organisation by the Dojo is very much the preferred option. The use of the ‘Bullring’ at the dojo is not an option.

3. It was noted that Mr. Price Morris had been properly informed of his expulsion from the BKA, and that he had failed to make any response within the time scale stated in the constitution. The EKF and the IKF would now be informed.

4. Late renewals, particularly of University students would be considered leniently this year. It is important to have the home address of students so that they get their membership information in time in the future.

5. It was noted that Mr. Honda had been appointed as a professor at Fukuoka University of Education. It was hoped that a replacement could be found. Before anything further could be accomplished, a full outline of the costs and implications must be presented to the EC. This is to be prepared by the Kendo Bu.

6. It was noted that the new constitution written for the BKA using a Sports Council Template had now been received. Arrangements for distributing it to the membership were agreed.

7. It was agreed that charity work being carried out by members would be supported.
