Officers meeting of the BKA held on Sat 18th Aug. 2007 at Kodokan Dojo.

Present G. Salmon, D. Spacey, M. Smalley, J. Howell, P. Budden, E. Schofield, T. Chapman.
Apologies G. Threipland.

Mr. Howell went through the paper he had prepared for the consideration of Iai and Jodo members, explaining his attempts to satisfy the wishes and requirements of all parties. There was general discussion on the implications of the paper, and how it would affect the three disciplines, particularly in liability on one as a result of action of another. A parallel with the old MAC membership where a member payment was made was considered as a model. This would need to be checked properly, but with a small change in wording it was agreed that Mr. Howell should send it to the people concerned. Mr. Howell further outlined the finances of the three Bu, pointing out how some of the disagreement about this had occurred.

Mr. Budden pointed out a problem with unregistered Dojo at renewal time. A separate time frame for member renewal and Dojo renewal was suggested [31 Dec and 30 Nov]. Members of unregistered Dojo would not be allowed to reregister with the BKA, thus putting their grading clock in jeopardy. This would need full EC approval.

We were still without an insurance officer, no one with an Insurance background had been turned up.

It was recognised that there were non-BKA bodies doing Iaido.
